This dataset contains pseudonymised survey data from 1,866 members of the Radboud Sports Centre aged 16 years or older. The Dutch-language cross-sectional survey examined sport participation and preferences for prospective sport partners. Respondents reported general sport participation, their primary sport motive, sport frequency, characteristics of up to three sports, and demographic information, and completed three discrete choice tasks. In each task, respondents selected one of three hypothetical sport partners varying in motivational orientation, mode of interaction, interpersonal bond, and sport-related expertise. The dataset supports analyses of overall sport-partner preferences and variation in these preferences by sport motive, participation frequency, and sport level. Direct identifying fields used for the prize draw and survey administration were removed from the deposit copy; a pseudonymous token is retained as the respondent identifier.
