This dataset contains records of a total of 50 research projects conducted by Stichting Bargerveen (Bargerveen Foundation) with records spanning the period of 1983-2024. The complete dataset contains a total 113361 records of 1958 species from 62 orders and a total of 810591 recorded individuals. The majority of species records are invertebrates, mostly obtained by sampling using standardized sampling methods. The remaining records are observations of species, also often using standardized methods. For each record, sampling methodology has been provided. The dataset contains records from both aquatic and terrestrial environments, with an emphasis on heathlands, inland dunes, coastal dunes and acidic oak forests for terrestrial habitats and ombrotrophic bogs, shallow soft water lakes and streams for aquatic habitats. The majority of records are from the Netherlands (108951), with additional records from Belgium (4297), and some from Germany, Denmark and Sweden (between 38 and 73 records).The majority of records are of Araneae (54760) and Coleoptera (mostly carabidae) (31770).
