Privacy
What we store about you when you use the site or subscribe, why, and for how long.
Subscribing to the update
If you subscribe, we store your email address, your language, the page where you signed up, what you want email about (new sources, articles) and when you signed up and confirmed. We only use it to send you that email.
You are only on the list after you click the link in the confirmation email. If you don't confirm within 30 days, we delete your address.
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If you unsubscribe, we delete your address from the database right away; only the timestamps remain, without an address.
The data sits in a separate database at Neon (Postgres, Frankfurt). The website itself cannot read the list of addresses: it may only subscribe, confirm and unsubscribe. Emails are sent by Resend; that service sees your address to do so.
What you search for
What you type in the search bar is stored so we can see what people search for and don't find: the query, the language, the number of results and what you clicked. No IP address, no cookie, nothing that can be traced back to you. The same goes for queries an AI assistant sends through our MCP server: only the query and the number of results.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with Google Analytics 4 (only on opendataindex.nl). Google Analytics sets cookies for this and processes data such as your IP address and browser.
Hosting
The site runs on Vercel (Frankfurt region). Like any web server, Vercel keeps technical logs of requests to the site.
