Data associated with the manuscript Hydrogel-based method for high-resolution measurements of contact mechanics in rapid biological adhesives: A case study in cuttlefish tentacle strikes. In this study, we present a novel framework using a cross-linked and plasticised gelatin hydrogel mimicking the non-linear mechanical properties of prey tissues, high-speed videography to locate sucker contact points, and optical coherence tomography for 3D reconstruction of sucker imprints. We compared in-vivo imprints to ex-vivo indentations with predefined loads to correlate imprint shape with normal, contact forces at the sucker rim. Our hydrogel provides a new approach to study biological small-scale attachment mechanisms in-vivo. This repository contains the indentation data of different hydrogels that we tested and the post processing to fit a Maxwell model and reconstruct the effective Young's modulus and relaxation time constant. Furthermore we include a blender shader to convert the global height of a mesh into intensity in a rendering, as well as a script to eliminate large scale deformations. This was used to flatten OCT data to reconstruct local changes in height and thus measure …
