Data underlying the publication "The Cost of Convenience: Exploring the Hassle–Autonomy Trade-Off in Automated Grid-Positive Electric Vehicle Charging in the Netherlands"

What's in it
SPSS dataset from an vignette survey about hassles and habit strength as barriers to Dutch household grid-positive electric vehicle charging. The study positions the Hassle Paradox: 1) automation transform behavioural barriers to grid positive charging from practical hassles to autonomy-related concerns, and 2) preserving users' sense of autonomy may require retaining some degree of practical hassle. The study addresses two research questions: RQ1) Can the previously observed relationship between hassle, habit strength and off-peak charging be replicated in a larger sample?, and RQ2) How does automation change the behavioural barriers underlying the acceptance of automated off-peak charging? The survey was programmed in Qualtrics. Respondents were recruited via a Dutch commercial research panel. Answers to open questions are removed from the data set to ensure respondents privacy.
