Data underlying the Thesis Chapter: "Adaptive mechanical metamaterials with state-dependent mechanics".

What's in it
This dataset supports the research presented in "Dual Property Mechanical Metamaterial", which investigates adaptive mechanical metamaterials exhibiting reversible, state-dependent mechanical properties under a single global input. The study introduces an elastic metamaterial unit cell in which internal state selection, deformation pathways, and macroscopic mechanical response are intrinsically coupled. The design combines a six-bar linkage mechanism, an internal rhombus structure, a bistable state element, and a nonlinear bistable spring. Under cyclic axial compression, the unit cell reversibly switches between two deformation modes characterized by outward and inward lateral deformation, corresponding to positive- and negative-Poisson-like behavior, and distinct effective stiffnesses. The research combines analytical modeling of the mechanical energy landscape, nonlinear finite element analysis, prototype fabrication, and experimental characterization. Silicone prototypes were fabricated using custom molds and subjected to quasi-static, displacement-controlled compression experiments. Force-displacement responses were measured using a universal testing machine, while axial and …
